Tell me and I forget, Show me and I remember, Involve me and I understand

Hail to all...

I read this in a mates Blog - http://childrensministry1234.com/cmblog/ and found it a great way to think about how and what i communicate to the Kids and youth i serve as well as to my church...so here you have a read and see if it can help you in your communication...?

To communicate clearly you need to do three things:

1 Give me a Message
2 Make me Care
3 Give me a Way to Remember it

Now apply that to training leaders or speaking to your children at church

1 Give them a Message
We have the worlds greatest message to give. The story of a God who loves his people so much he steps out of heaven and into a world that he will eventually die for.

2 Make them Care
Let them see how much this message has changed your life and teach them to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Deliver your message with passion and integrity.

3 Give them a Way to Remember It
Use symbols, pictures, slogans, or include in your message.

Remember the old proverb.

Tell me and I forget
Show me and I remember
Involve me and I understand

All the best for your communication skills as you connect hearts with God

Commitment

As i normally do at this time of the day I was checking out the BBC Football site and looking at what the papers are talking about. i came across this...

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he once tried to sign legendary AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini - only to be rebuffed by his father, the former Italy boss Cesare Maldini. "
I always wanted to get Paolo here but it was impossible," said the Scot."I met his father at a game and told him how much I'd love to have his son at United. Cesare smiled at me and said 'My grandfather was Milan, my father was Milan, I played for Milan and now my son is Milan'. And that was it - story over!"

What I found amazing about it was the commitment Cesare Maldini showed. His response is brilliant...it seems as tho nothing was going to stop his son playing for Milan and for those of you who dont know Paolo was and is an AC Milan Legend.

Now from a football perspective - footballers have become more focussed on the money than the football they get to play...not wanting to get on the soap box but they have...!

From a Church perspective have we lost some of that commitment to our communities? or to our fellowships? Acts shows us that the early church shared everything they had and they continued to grow...for 2010 my heartbeat is for my community and for my church and just like Cesare, i pray that people will see that is what i am about...

Happy Thursday!

Hello and Happy New Year!

Some people may have remebered that i did start a blog last year but then things got daft and it wasn't really followed up...so its a new year and my mate Nathan Milnes has started so I think I need to get back in the Game!

The plan is to post stuff regularly about what God is up to and what I experience as I work out what it is God has in-store for Ripon...sometimes it'll be words and stories and other times it may be games and stuff!!! who knows!

So firstly thankyou for reading and secondly please keep popping back and checking what i have posted...

I can't wait for 2010!!!!
